The General Assistance Program is designed to help people in emergencies. It is designated as the program of last resort. People may be eligible to receive other benefits such as Food Stamps, Veteran’s Benefits, or Social Security Income. To request assistance please contact Maureen Scanlon at the Town Office at 207-625-8344. There are guidelines that you must meet to be eligible for the program: an application must be filled out and reviewed for completeness. The application is private and confidential. A written decision will be issued by the GA Administrator within 24 hours of receipt of application.
Applications will be issued during office hours:
Tuesday’s and Friday’s 9AM – 6PM
Wednesday’s and Thursday’s 9AM-3PM

Pursuant to Title 22 M.R.S.A. Sec. 430, the Municipal Officers have adopted an ordinance establishing the program. A copy of this ordinance and relevant statutes are available for the general public viewing at the Town Office.
